Up in Annie’s Room
These beloved local purveyors of jazz, tango, klezmer and swing beguiled music lovers throughout NSW for over 20 years before retiring the band to pursue new musical projects.
The great news is that they’re reforming for one performance especially for the 2025 Wingham Music Festival.
Inspired by music ranging from Romany jazz king Django Rheinhardt through to the irresistible tangos of Astor Piazzola, Up In Annie’s Room mixes classic swing with international flavours in their presentation of original material, well loved jazz standards and richly evocative traditional folk tunes with a twist.
Up In Annie’s Room features seasoned pros Hugh Cowley on strings and vocals, Ali Ross on saxophones, Peter Mullany wrangling double bass and guitar, Marc Vassilou driving the
swing on drums and Helen Knight on squeezebox, bass and vocals, and they couldn’t be happier to be reuniting for this very special event.
Their motto has always been “We have ways of making you feel good” and that’s what they’re aiming to do this year for their favourite festival. Strap in folks – they’re back!
